Day Pass

January 6, 2015 , , , , , , , , , , ,

Day PassEver have one of those days when you feel like the weight of all the hats you’re wearing is crushing your skull and you are drowning in responsibilities and kids and sports and work and Christmas and…life?! Today was one of those days for Mr. Confessions and it got me thinking. I wish I could give him a pass. Like in the movie Hall Pass where Owen Wilson and Jason Sudeikis are granted a hall pass for one week to do whatever they please. (jury is still out on whether or not their wives are crazy or actually on to something good there)

What if we could give ourselves a DAY PASS.

One day to forgive yourself. To love yourself. To send your inner mean girl/guy on vacation. To stop thinking and just be. One full day, not to escape per se, but to reconnect with YOU. The super cool you that’s inside right now and feels overwhelmed and confused by the stories you’re telling yourself. You know, all that negative crap that’s on a loop between your ears and blaring so loud that you can’t hear anything else around you. Yeah, that stuff. Those things aren’t reality. They’re stories and depending on how long they’ve been playing, some of them have become beliefs. Most of it is nothing more than fear. Fear of success. Fear of the unknown. Fear of failing. Fear of not being perfect.

Consider this your very own DAY PASS!

Print it out. Wear it. Live it. Give yourself a day to simply be. Quiet your mind. Stop thinking and take an action. Take a walk. Take a class. Take a drive. Move your body and your mind will move too. Try this: write down the following sentence 12 times and fill in the blank each time. If only I were (fill in the blank) I could (fill in the blank). Write each sentence out completely.

Now, cross out the beginning of each sentence and replace it with I AM. Then cross out I would and change it to I CAN. Now re-read each sentence. Uh huh! Powerful stuff!

Remember, what you focus on is what you get.

A Super Friend once told me this: “Your F.A.T.E. is your focused attention, time and energy. You decide!”

Enjoy your DAY PASS!

Stay sane, my friends.
