The Wrong Cheez-Its Holding You Back?

September 22, 2014 , , , , , , , , ,

Cheez-It Holding You Back?Flying around this AM, as per usual, when I ask 7 Going on 17 if she grabbed her snack and drinks for school.

She asks eagerly, “What snack am I taking?”

I reply, “Yummy Cheez-Its!”

To which I hear, “Oh noooooo! I don’t like those.”

I say, “What? You love Cheez-Its!”

“No, she exclaims, you bought those weird bunny ones!” “They taste weird. They’re not the right ones.”

“There are no ‘right ones’,” I reply. “Cheez-Its…they’re all the same.”

WHY DOES THIS HAVE TO BE A THING? Cheez-Its…the ordeal? Really?!

Why do we have to spend time on this. They’re fucking crackers for God sake (inside voice). Just be grateful you have a snack, that I packed it and all you have to do is enjoy them.

This little exchange is common with my child. She has very limited views of the world and of which cracker is the “right one” and a limited palette, to boot. It got me thinking…

How many of us put limitations on things? Waste time making excuses when all we have to do is eat the damn crackers (or whatever you’ve been making excuses about here). What could we be eating, reading, doing, accomplishing if we stopped putting limitations on everything?

I’d go back to school and get my degree if…

I could eat better if…

I’d get to the gym regularly if it wasn’t for…

I’d like myself better if only…

I’d look for a new job if…

I’d get more clients if…

I’d have more sex if…(said no married woman with kids ever)

I’d be happier if…

What are you making excuses about? What’s holding you back?

Go ahead and eat the cracker already!

Stay sane, my friends.
