So Much for Child Psychology!

November 2, 2012 , , , , ,

So Much for Child PsychologyIt was one of those evenings when everyone was doing their own thing and I’m figuring out what to do for dinner: “13 Going on 30” is in her room, listening to music, doing homework and claims she’s not hungry yet. Husband is fixing something that’s been broken for over a year (not getting in his way) and Little Miss (5) is putting stickers on the dog, but does mention she’s hungry.

Bingo! A taker! I make her a plate then dart out into the garage to slip in a workout. (Not the Cleavers tonight, folks!)

She appears in the garage about 15 minutes later…

Little Miss: Mom, I’m done. Can I have a cinnamon roll now for dessert?

Me (panting): Really, you ate everything on your plate?

Little Miss: Ummmm, most of it. Can I have a cinnamon roll? Pleeeeeeeeease?

Me (still panting): No way! You get back in there and eat everything on your plate. Then, we’ll talk about a cinnamon roll.

….5 minutes later

Little Miss: I’m done! Cinnamon roll?

Me (sweating profusely/huffing and puffing): (right eyebrow up) I don’t think you ate all that food. If I find it in the trash can you’re going to get spanked.

Little Miss: (thinking carefully) I don’t mind getting spanked. Can I have the cinnamon roll now?

Me (wide eyed): …..speechless…..

Stay sane, my friends.

This is sooo my son! Whenever I threaten a grounding, he wants to know what the punishment will entail, then he weighs his options! Great post!
