May Rainbows and Unicorns Fly Out Their Butts

May 14, 2012 , , , , , , , ,

Happy Mothers Day!Happy Mothers Day!

The one day each year when mothers everywhere are adorned with bejeweled tiaras, brought breakfast in bed, bowed down to and praised for using their uterus like an Easy Bake Oven…sent out for a massage, pedicure and shopping spree, bowed down to for momentarily disfiguring their vaginas to bring life into the world and all in all treated like the goddess that they are for all the:

breast feeding
diapers
meals
snacks
Chuck E. Cheese parties
school performances
laundry
school projects
storybook reading
butt wiping
bath giving
ear and crevis cleaning
chauffeuring
gift buying
picture taking
scrap booking
grocery shopping
referee-ing
party planning
earnest listening
shoulder crying
supporting
back rubbing
meltdown diffusing
mood swings
and loving.

I’m just positive that when everyone around you woke up this morning, you expected rainbows and unicorns to fly out their butts and worship the ground you walk on. Right?! Sadly, this wasn’t the case for all the women I know. Some had to cook. Many also cleaned it up. Several of you had your own mother over. A few of you experienced your first Mothers Day. Several of you spent it on a sports field somewhere cheering on your offspring. Lots of you received flowers and gifts. Some of you spent it alone enjoying the peace and quiet. Many different experiences for many different moms.

The one thing I do know is that all of you are loved. Whether you’re an actual mom or just play one on TV. You make a difference in peoples lives.

Here’s to the power of women. I salute you. Don your tiara proudly for you rule the world!

Stay sane, my friends.
