Your Power is in the Present Moment

October 6, 2011 , ,

Ever find yourself in a situation where you feel compelled to chant to yourself or you may not make it to the next minute?!

When I was little my mom would count to 20, so she wouldn’t accidentally lose it and “beat us to death”. Well, of course, I find myself doing this now, only I just count to 10. Maming or death could ensure prior to me reaching 20. My kids are, like, “Mom, why are you counting.” My older daughter has caught on and now if she sees me counting she exits stage left OR empties the dishwasher, cleans the house and takes out the trash all within about 15 seconds flat. Smart girl!

I actually learned a very helpful saying that’s helped me through various situations, including but not limited to the following: cramps, the flu, insomnia, lack of funds, excess of funds, disagreements, bath time, bed time, dinner time, Christmas shopping, WWF-style arguing, parties, funerals, family get-togethers, road trips, client presentations and while giving birth. I learned it from a yoga instructor named Andrea. I still smile when I think of her sweet spirit. It goes like this…

yesterday is past

tomorrow is a thousand miles away

for right here

right now

my power is in

the present moment

May this chant get you through the good times and the bad times and anything in between.

Stay sane, my friends.
